High Throughput, Spectrally Agile, Reflective Objective

SORL introduces a high throughput, spectrally agile, 6X reflective objective that delivers near diffraction-limited performance in the Visible and UV! The f/1 system uses interferometrically aligned parabolic reflectors with high efficiency broadband coatings for optimal signal collection, excellent throughput and ideal image formation. The reflectors feature wave front accuracy of Lambda/10 and are custom polished on ultra-low expansion ceramic, Zerodur™ substrates. Generally, aspheric mirrors provide better image quality and the best collimation in applications with a narrow field of view. They find common use in other objectives, beam expanders, and telescopes.

The unique optical system was designed by Dr. M. A. Rübhausen, of the University of Hamburg Institute of Applied Physics. By design the confocal objective is used for Raman spectroscopy and imaging experiments with varying photon energies. It will be used primarily from 230 to 800 nm. Reflective optics are commonly used when experiments operate over a broad spectral range. The unique design enables the user to introduce the excitation laser in backscattering geometry as well as provide space for polarizers and wave plates.

The objective will be installed at the entrance of a unique triple monochromator also designed for Raman spectroscopy. It will be used for imaging applications in combination with the A504K high-speed camera developed by Basler Vision Technologies AG (Ahrensburg, Germany) in cooperation with the University of Hamburg.
